Courses in and Around Wellington
Avalon Park, Lower Hutt
Avalon Park boasts an excellent playground, a kids bike track with traffic markings, and the Lower Hutt Lions host a mini golf course and train. While the course is due some upkeep, the price is perfect for families and at the end of it all, there's iceblocks and icecreams.
Carlucci Land, Wellington
It doesn't matter what skill level you're at, Carlucci Land is the great equaliser with it's creative holes and contraptions. The club has always enjoyed it for what it is - pure mini golf fun.
Feilding Lions Mini Golf
With holes decorated based on nursery rhymes and stories, the course is the epitome of a kiwi mini golf course. The Lions look after this course well, and the Welly Mini Golf Club usually travel to play this one alongside the course in Palmerston North.
Golf Warehouse, Lower Hutt
Some of Wellington's best traditional mini golf, Golf Warehouse's course is modelled after a number of famous international traditional golf holes and located alongside the driving range, golf course and driving range. Golf Warehouse has hosted the New Zealand Mini Golf Open, multiple putting tour evnts.
Holey Moley, Wellington
Holey Moley venues combine a cocktail bar with mini golf for more of a entertainment outing. The course is divided into two sides with some very unique holes. However, at its steep price point and quirkiness, the Wellington Mini Golf Club tends to reserve this style of course for special occasions.
Lions Mini Golf Palmy, Palmerston North
Lions know how to do traditional mini golf, and Palmy's course on the esplanade is no exception. The course is built to be accessible to all, including those with disabilities, but is still an enjoyable challenge for any skill level. The Club plays this course as a "double feature" alongside Feilding's course when we travel to the Manawatū.
Masterton Mini Golf
Established in 1979 by the local Rotary club, Masteron's course is easily the oldest course in the Wellington region still operating. It's been well-kept and yet another classic mini golf experience.
Pirate's Cove, Porirua
One of mini golf's unwritten rules is that it's mandatory to have at least one pirate-themed mini golf course within an island. The course features waterfalls, treasure hoards, and of course, a pirate ship. Great fun and a challenging course that's often included in the NZ Putting Tour.
Wainuiomata Summer Pool, Lower Hutt
Yes, that's right - there's 9 holes at the Wainuiomata Pool! While not a star attraction, it's a public course nonetheless (although we've never played here)
Welly Putt Mini Golf, Wellington
The Escape Mate team have applied their expertise to uniquely theme each of Welly Putt's rooms - from Moana-inspired holes, the shire, and Wellington landmarks (including the water buckets!). The venue can feel a bit carmped when it is busy, and the cost means it's not a course we'd visit regularly, but thanks to it's upstairs indoor location and partnerships with local eateries, this is a fun course no matter the weather outside.
The Witching Hour Brewtown, Upper Hutt
Admist the beer mecca of Brewtown are two 13-hole courses. The first is the "Classic Course" with vampires, cornfields, and witches. It's family-friendly but your mileage may vary. As for the second course, this is considered R18 (or 13 with parent supervision) as it's pretty gruesome! Like many indoor mini golf courses, the venue offers a selection of food and drink, but equally course fees are a bit more than the traditional outdoor ones, and even more to play on both courses.
